CNC cut puzzle box

This puzzle box is the “Modified Matchbox” – built from plans available online. It takes 10 moves to open and close.

I converted the PDF plans into CNC cutting paths for my router. It was made from 1/4″ (actually 0.235″) baltic birch plywood, with an oak veneer applied, stained and varnished. It’s the first real “thing” that I’ve made with my new router.

I etched some replica “Lament Configuration” style brass panels – very similar to the design used in the Hellraiser movies – and at some point I’ll get them applied to the box.

I think next time I’ll make it from solid oak panels, and engrave a design into the panels using the CNC.

@Tab54o I etched them from some designs I found online. It is the same process you use to make printed circuit boards. Go to my blog and search for “lament”
