Test Core Profile

Set out to test run a typical core profile, looking for ways to streamline the automated process.
Used a 9mm thick sheet of Baltic Birch plywood. This procedure shown had 3 steps and 2 tool changes.

The first step – Routing a shallow rabbit for the steel edge to rest in, and drilling binding inserts. All on the bottom side.

Step two – Flip the blank over, re-align and clamp (vacuum) back in place. Switched from a 1/4″ spiral bit to a 3/4″ dish cutter for profile thicknessing.
Profiling had two stages, roughout and finish passes and took approx 12 minuets @ 220ipm

Step three – Switch back to the 1/4″ downcut spiral bit to final cut the outline shape..

While this video shows areas that need tuned in the g-code it is a good overview of core profiling a snowboard.
