what are the alternative wood in making longboard?

im planning to build my own longboard. and in my place there is no available birch plywood or even maple wood. so any idea what are the alternative wood i can use?

You could do a chambered balsa or pawlonia board. If you are doing a rib construction with veneer or ply outerlayer you could use thin marine grade plywood.

Wait, are you asking about a skateboard? I made my longboard out of half inch red oak. Zero flex, but for the way I ride it it works great. I made it a scale replica of an old school long board surf board.

you should have posted this in skateboarding. Anyway. I’ve used pine before. It works alright if you want to make a plank, but if you’re going to press it, you might as well buy veneers online. You can do solid hardwood too. Those are nice.

(balsa wood) i think would be best because its used in mostly all surfboards today. and it strong, light, durable and overall adds extra performance.
