depends on the length and width of the trailor. personally I would not use plywood because it rots too quickly.

Test ride on my new mini ramp

Posted by admin on March 2nd, 2010 and filed under plywood sheets | 25 Comments »

This is just a test ride. This is my first time riding it. Yes I know it’s a quarter pipe.
We finally finished my new mini ramp and I couldnt help film a short session on it. The ramp is about 18 inches tall and 5 feet wide. It took about 2 hours to make and was free ( only because wee had all of the items needed to build it.

We used 2 sheets of plywood, 1 sheet of masonite , a half inch peice of wood, 5 2 by 4s, a bunch of ribbed nails, and a pole(cut) for coping.
Please look on my channel if you are interested in how to build the quarter pipe.

How many sheets of 3/4"x4′x8′ plywood are required to cover a 24′x32′ floor? how do you get answer?

Multiply 4 x 8 = 32 square feet per sheet. Mulitply 24 x 32 = 768 square feet to be covered. Divide 768 by 32 = 24 sheets.

What is the standard size for a sheet of plywood in countries using the metric system?

Posted by admin on February 23rd, 2010 and filed under plywood sheets | 1 Comment »

In the US, plywood comes in 4 feet wide by 8 feet wide sheets. This is a standard size that fits well with standard sizes used throughout building construction. In a metric country, where measurements are more commonly expressed in meters or centimeters, what is the standard size for a sheet of plywood? How does this carry through to such things as ceiling height, door frame sizes, or the spacing of studs within a wall?

Check out this web page for a rough idea. http://www.gunnersens.com.au/products/building-products/plywood.html

There are many applications for plywood and different types for the different applications. By the way, in metric system of building, most measurements are in mm.

In Australia, timber stud walls are usually made of 90×35 or 90×45mm sizes. You can also get 70×35 & 70×45mm thicknesses too but aren’t used usually for structural purposes. Studs are usually spaced at 450mm centres for structural walls, and 600mm for some structural and also non-structural walls.

Ceiling heights standards are 2400mm, 2550mm and 3000mm high.

How can I get some plywood home?

Posted by admin on February 21st, 2010 and filed under plywood sheets | 9 Comments »

I need to buy some 4′ x 8′ plywood sheets. I hate to pay for delivery or truck rental if I can help it, and I don’t have any good friends with pickup trucks. I do have a roof rack on our SUV, but can’t think of any safe way to secure the plywood. Any creative ideas, or should I just accept the fact that I need to rent a truck?

You should to be able to tie it on, tightly. End to end and side to side, at least two ties each direction. Drive back roads and
slowly . I wouldn’t try more than 3 maybe 4 sheets. We have done it before. Make sure it is secure before you start. Be sure to put a blanket or padding on the roof to protect it. You can bring the ropes into the car and slam the doors tightly and tie them together inside to keep it tight.
