I have an "engineered wood floor" in my house. It is the plywood with a very very thin layer of real wood on the top.

There are several worn and discolored spots. Unfortunately, I cannot sand it. But what I was thinking was that I could get wood veneer, and cut into sections to match the floor.

My only question is: If I glue wood veneer over wood planks that are worn, can I then put 2-3 coats of polyurethane over it? Will it hold up and stick to it and protect it?

Thanks

yes

Some suggest a hardboard center with wood edging epoxied together, sanded till flat and then veneer on top. They suggest this because of warping issues with plywood, as well as weight issues. I know hardboard can be heavy as well. Any suggestions?

Stay away from lowe’s or home depot go to your local lumber yard they will cary the grade you need unlike the affore mentioned "home improvement stores" which only cary number 2 grade wood.
Even better would be to visit a custom cabinet shop they would be more likely to carry what you are looking for (that is a rather od size at 3/16" and with 5 plys)
If they don’t they would be able to tell you where to get the wood you need.

I bought a floating/locking floor and installed in my home. When I bought it I was told that it was mostly plywood (I think) with a bamboo veneer. My problem is my husband put our furniture back without placing rubber pads to protect floor. Now we have scratches on the floor and I don’t know how to look up the proper way to remove them since the floor is neither hardwood nor lamaniate. I don’t even know what the proper name for the type of floor I have is. Please help!!!! How do I make my floor look beautiful again and while we are at it what is the proper daily care for it?

They sell stuff to hide scratches in furniture. It is basically a colored oil. It will hide them for awhile. I have no idea if the type of flooring you have can be refinished as the veneer is extremely thin on many of these products.

Also add 15% waste factor when calculating.

Board feet is basically volume. Lenth times Width x thickness.

Which letter is it? Please only answer if you know! I have been looking for the answer forever!

Regarding Plywood panels:

A. 2′ x 4′ is the most common size.
B. They have an even number of cross-laminated layers.
C A high grade veneer is used when one side will be exposed.
D Structural panels are made using hardboard.

C is about the only true answer.

Plywood usually has an odd number of layers, and it comes in 4 x 8 foot sheets most commonly.

D is ambiguous – structural panels do not need hardboard to be "structural" but they CAN have hardboard as a component, and probably do somewhere on the planet, from some manufacturer.
