My son has been asked to paint a mural on a "terrapin" cabin at his former primary school.
The school is located at approximately 1000 feet above sea level in wales ( rain, snow )
He has drawn in indelible marker the outline, we are now looking for suitable paints, for brush application, could we use acrylics/interior emulsion? would we have to over seal? the surface is textured paint over plywood, any comments gratefully received, thank you in anticipation
You can buy an exterior wall paint that is a flat base, usually white that you can buy small pots of pigment that you mix into the base paint,it is weather proof as well and is meant for exactly what you are doing,I have done quite a few murals on outside walls including a large pub wall whilst I was in Spain and all are still there, though for added security I did coat them all in a non sun effected matt varnish, you could try asking either at somewhere like B&Q or a good art supplies shop but I would go with B&Q or similar,,

I would have thought you could use either acrylics or interior emulsion so long as you do over seal. Acrylics would be stronger I imagine, both in lasting power and colour power – more expensive tho. You obviously could also use exterior paints, maybe even the little sample bottles.
