Heavier cutting with three lower priced Hanwei European swords to test their durability and integrity.
1) The CAS Hanwei Iberia line Lionheart sword which I cut heavier plastic bottles as well as some trees with.
2) The CAS Hanwei Iberia line Mercenary sword with which I swat some heavier targets and test the thrusting power on some metal and plywood.
3) The Hanwei Scottish Claymore with which I cut some heavier plastic jugs and bottles.
I put these swords up to the test at the risk of injury to myself and damage to the swords to see if these entry-level swords from Hanwei are as good a deal as they seem. I am wearing heavy clothing as well as gloves and safety goggles. What I do to these swords in this video is not recommended as it can cause serious injury if a blade breaks.
Not one of them suffered any damage from the abuse shown in the video. At these prices , these are some of the best examples of economical, fully functional, carbon steel European swords available today.
All three were purchased from Wiwingti Sword Supply.

Those swords look …
Those swords look like an excellent choice for someone wanting to experiment with Euros, cutting and sharpening. I think the merc. is quite attractive, looks like a beast.

The Agincourt is …
The Agincourt is about the same size and weight and the same price too, just a bit different pommel and guard. Just another choice for you, heheh.

Nice test Randy. …
. I have to contact Marc about a Linonheart.
Nice test Randy. That Lionheart was $90. Dude, I’m getting ripped off. Glad I didn’t buy it yet. The other two are way too heavy for my liking, you know I’m a Katana guy after all
They all stood up to a tone of heavy targets there. Great job man, my back yard is still like soup.

that claymore is …
that claymore is freakin huge! how much would you reckon it weighs?
March 20th, 2010 at 2:29 pm
Yes, it is more …
Yes, it is more than a hand and a half sword. I would consider this a two-hander, like the claymore, unless you are a very large person to wield it like a hand and a half sword.

Nice test!
I wanted …
Nice test!
I wanted to buy the Mercenary, or the other hand-and-a-half from the Iberia Line, but wasn’t sure. In my country there is only one distributor for Hanwei who sells at retail price.
Isn’t the Mercenary kinda heavy for a hand-and-a-half? (from the specs on their website)
