2010 Plywood Cup Race 2010 at Granville Island, Vancouver, BC, Canada

Chris Kerslake and the “Smalltalk 2″ team competing in the 2010 Plywood Cup Race 2010 for Smalltalk at Granville Island in Vancouver, BC, Canada, June 5th, 2010.

This past weekend I participated in the Plywood Cup at Granville Island as a builder and the rower for my team, “Smalltalk 2″ (look for the SM2 on the back of my boat). We had 90 minutes to build a boat out of two sheets of plywood (1 x 1/4″ and 1 x 3/4″) and an 8 foot 2×2 using a hand saw, a hammer, 125 nails, 1 roll (30′) of duct tape, a ruler, a pencil and a utility knife — at one of the docks at Granville Island — and then we (er, I) had to row to the other side of False Creek and back.

I’m the guy in the orange shirt, black knee pads and white hat.
