a stack of 1/2 inch thick plywood is 34 inch high. How many sheets of plywood are in the stack?

Think: if each piece were 1" thick, 34 of them would make a pile 34 inches high. Since these pieces are 1/2" thick, this means there are twice as many. 2 x 34= 68.

You asked about 1/2 inch plywood. If that is the nominal dimension, then the plywood is actually 7/16 in thick. Thus, you would have about 77 sheets. (It was 77.71 to be exact.)
