Battle of the Bulge Diorama

1/35 scale diorama of the Battle of the Bulge at the city of Bastogne. The diorama is located at the National Military History Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. It is 288 sq ft (9 sheets of plywood) and has hundreds of vehicles, troops, buildings and aircraft. The diorama took almost 12 months to create.

    @EmperorAst Thanks. The snow is lime that is sifted over the terrain. It looks real, packs up like snow and holds up over time.

    @shaken122 Sorry for responding so late. The smoke is made with cotton that is stretched out to look like smoke. It is painted different shades of black and gray.

    Some of the kits were from our collection already built, some were unbuilt kits we already had, but many we had to buy just because of the scale of the diorama. We haven’t calculated the cost, probably because we’re afraid to know the truth!

    Did you buy your tank kits in bulk!..otherwise, wow expensive job.I’ve made tanks and AFV over the years, and found German Vehicles the best to build and display, the Germans had better equipment….the Allies had more!

    It took about a year. Partly because the museum where we assembled it was 3 hrs away. But we also spent many hours at home building kits and making buildings. We’re glad you like it.
