Some of this merchandise can obviously be marked down depending on substitution methods like the bar railing. I’m asking if you people could round up all of these supplies and give me a fair price using some good rules of thumb and maybe suggestive techniques?

These supplies are for making a Mini Bar for my upcoming new house! =D
For a top contributor I’d think you’d of either contributed to helpful information that wasn’t common sense or not of posted anything at all. Thanks for your input but I’d like an estimate from people that are attuned with shopping at a variety of stores and have been around this specific type of supplies.
To sort this all out let me just say thank you for your input Wrang. I agree a more discreet list of demands should have sufficed. However its not in the matter of laziness of checking price tags on items as it is more along the lines of someone, like yourself, who can decipher differences between what supplies I have on me, and how I can find material just as similar but at a much better price.

You see, price is my main factor in the project I am working on. Which like I said was the Mini Bar I would like to try out. Here is the free blueprint that I’m looking off of.

http://www.bobsplans.com/FreePlans/6FtBar/FreeBarPlans.php

You said it also determines on what skills and tools I’m working with. I’m probably as good as a 3 yr old playing with A B C blocks, but I’m down to try.

I owe Paul an apology, sorry Paul. Wrangler, appreciate your well thought out input. As for emailing for further elaboration on this project, Id be more than happy to open it up & continue the discussion.

Well, in Paul’s defense, you really haven’t given us much to go on….

A simple list of prices for the items could be had by checking online, or at your local building supply store, like Lowe’s. These prices are going to be pretty consistent, no matter where you are located. Asking someone else to do your homework, and criticizing one who refused smacks of laziness, lol. Which would in turn question your willingness, or ability, to actually follow through on this project.

Alternative products and methods – this really depends on a few things which you’ve failed to tell us – such as your skill level, the tools you have available, and details on the project itself.
For example, lets look at the Oak Veneer plywood. I’ve seen this priced anywhere from $40 to $100. We don’t know anything about how you are going to use it. It could very easily be, that a substitute could be provided, IF we knew how it was going to be used. Do you really need 2 sheets of 3/4" or is it just that the layout of the grain pattern requires 2 sheets? If that is the case, you could make your own veneered cores much less expensively, if you have the skills. Customization could even be an option, with very intricate veneer worked into the pieces. Why use veneer at all? Why not make it completely out of solids? You see, whether to use veneer, or solids, depends on what tools and skills you have available.
Why use 7 small angle brackets? If you have the needed tools you could construct the case of this minibar without any brackets at all.
Arm rest moulding – I’d definitely balk at paying this much for moulding. I’d make it myself, using a tablesaw, and router. It could even be possible to make a solid wood edge to a core veneered product, and mould the edge instead of creating a seperate moulding piece altogether. This is, again, something dependent upon your skills, and the tools you have available. Something we have no idea of, since you’ve not only failed to provide those here in this question, but you’ve made all your questions "private" so we cannot look at them to see if you’ve asked similar questions, or other questions related to this project, which would help us figure out some of what you are trying to get here.
Brass hardware can be purchased through Rockler, or direct from a manufacturer.

Unless you can provide more detail, I would suggest that you take your list to your local Lowe’s and ask for a price list of those items.

You could check with your local cabinet shop about having this built for you too. If you don’t have any of the tools, or skills, needed to build this project, this would probably be the least expensive, and achieve the best quality, method of accomplishing this.

Here’ your price list though, for the items that are specified enough to find them -
Rockler #42777 – $64.99
Rockler #42768 – $44.99
Rockler #34835 – $5.57 with quantity discount
Drawer pulls – not enough detail, these could cost anywhere from 50 cents to several dollars. I’d recommend shopping around for vintage parts, if you want this to really stand out.

Hmmm.. well, Lowe’s is currently doing maintenance on their website, so I can’t provide their prices at this time.

I would question the necessity of finish nails. I’d use a brad nailer for trim/moulding along with glue, instead of the larger finish nails.
When it comes to screws, I prefer to use square drive heads as my first choice, phillips as my second choice. I absolutely will not use a slotted head. You failed to specify what type, and finish, these screws need to have.

The oak veneer plywood, I am seeing listed at $40 per half sheet, and $80 (for 1/2" core) to $92 for full sheets of 3/4" core. This doesn’t include shipping costs.

As for the oak solids… do you need a full 8 ft length, or will this be cut up into shorter lengths? If that is the case, you might be better off purchasing shorter lengths to begin with. And you failed to tell us how thick those solids need to be, so we can’t price them for you.

Better Questions Yield Better Answers, hehehe.

If you allowed email, we could discuss this project in detail. I’ve had a lot of practice making items like this, both professionally, and for myself.

Have Fun

No. You can look up the Rockler prices yourself on the net or in their catalog.
All the other prices vary by location but any lumberyard should be willing to give you prices for your list at your location.
