Price: -MDF is cheaper -Plywood is more expensive Durability MDF is very intolerant to water Plywood: higher water tolerance, and lower weight For base cabinets (those that would be below counter tops), I'd only use plywood in case of a spill. For a trolley I'd only use plywood because of it's higher strength, and lower weight.
